Find me the person who invented E-Bay…

…and I will abandon my previous commitment to commit hari kiri before allowing another child to pass through my pelvis. Yes, I would get pregnant again. Just so I could name the baby after the founder.

Or at least I’d offer to wash his or her car.

Normal people stop here. Runners, read on. What I’m about to tell you will make you think Body Glide was a yawn of an invention:

Ladies and gentlemen? I give you the world’s finest running shoe. One that normally retails for $135… and I snagged a pair on E-Bay for $41.

Yes, you really are looking at a pair of brand new Asics Gel Kayanos. In the box. Never worn. 14s even, so you know they’re not a part of somebody’s failed New Year’s resolution from back in 1998.

Fleet Feet had better prepare for layoffs because I’m diverting my rather substantial running shoe fund to E-Bay.

** Addendum for my dearest commenter Alice:

14 is the shoe’s “edition” designation and not my size. Last year the latest Kayano was a 13, this year it’s 14, next year will be 15…. you dig?

In other words: I do NOT have big feet!

For someone who is six feet tall.

Thank You,
Management

I hope this post is revealing that you actually wear a size 14 because it will make me feel infinitely happier about my size 11s.

I like the GT 2120 better than the Kayano, but you say tomato…

Try shopping for Christmas in July- you can get awesome deals on E-bay. Thanks for clearing up the 14s thing. I was thinking it was either size 14’s or they were labelling it 14s for small so that you would think there was a 14L (large) to make you feel better about having freak-feet. I’m a guy, so I am clueless about women’s shoes- it was a plausible theory.

Oh, by the way, E-bay was founded in San Jose, California, on September 3, 1995, by French-born Iranian computer programmer Pierre Omidyar. It was originally called AuctionWeb.

I’m a geek -and- a librarian.

How soon until baby Pierre is born?

Ha! The sasquatch comment from your last post and the 14s had me thinking, “Day-um, she’s tall!” Then I read on…but I’m still impressed by the great price.

Yep. I read 14s and pretty much figured you’re one of those people who scuba dives without flippers.

Steph is lying…

For those of you who have never met her in person she actually stands at roughly 9 and a half feet tall, can bench press a small economy car and has been known to eat live grizzly bear whole.

I saw a video of her wrestling The Great Khali when he was in India and she actually picked up a small child from the audience and beat that poor wrestler into a coma with the scared and confused nine year old boy.

She’s the only woman who dunk on Shaq and she’s been known to phone Mr. Universe contestants in the middle of the night and call them whiny little bitches, the threatens to come to their house and toss them around the back yard like a lawn dart.

Some more fun facts:
It takes Three (3) litres of Vodka to get her mildly intoxicated.

She can pat a giraffe on the head, without standing on her tippy toes.

She can run a mile in a grand total of 326 steps.

She is an expert with nunchucks

She killed her ex-boyfriend by kicking him the crotch, and subsequently his junk flew out the top of his head.

She builds model houses by stacking the sleeping homeless like legos.

And she has an incredible singing voice.

I wish the inventor of EBay would adopt me.

wow. Thanks Travis for the fun Steph facts. I did not realize you could sing! Way to score on the shoes!

I’m thinking maybe Travis should start a web site along the lines of Chuck Norris Facts and Jack Bauer Facts.

There are two kinds of bad guys in the world: those that are alive and those that have met Steph.
Steph can believe it’s not butter.
There is no theory of evolution, only a list of animals Steph allows to live.

and so forth… but anyway, I had to laugh at the 14 confusion because I do in fact wear size 14 shoes :)

I did raise my eyebrows at the “14″. I don’t think Andre the Giant wore shoes that big.

They look like very nice shoes, and they’re blue-my favorite color!

Use them wisely, Grasshopper. Don’t wear them to the grocery store, or flaunt them in front of the soccer moms (who won’t appreciate them anyway).

EBay rocks doesn’t it? I must admit that I thought 14 was the size too. I’ve been doing more selling on ebay than buying lately. I’ve made like $600 in the last few weeks but is slowing down since I don’t have any more $1000 bike frames I can sell for $250.

OK, I’ll say it.

Well I wear a size 15! You know what that means.

Ebay couldn’t sell our Berghoff knives, so I am angry at it right now.

Yep, I got me some New Balance runners for 30dollars AU!!! I am so wrapped. A person who was in our local newspaper bought a house for 1 dollar!!! On ebay!! They relocated the house to their farm..how cool is that!!
I am selling some of the kids clothes they no longer fit in on ebay at the moment. When they make money on them I give it to them or they get to pick something they want off of ebay. Sarah got a pair of brand new Lonsdale runners from the UK for 18 dollars!! They are gorgeous :)

@patresa:

DISCLAIMER: I cannot be termed a serious runner on the level that Steph is.

Everyone I’ve asked in the Team in Training program I was involved in along with the large majority of running shoe sellers swear by Asics, and they are by far the best shoe I’ve ever worn. I prefer the GT2120 to the Kayano, but you pretty much can’t go wrong with any running shoe they make, so long as you get properly fitted. I went from a 9 in my last running shoe to a 10EE in my Asics, allowing for expansion for long distances, etc.
